JUST AS MANY PEOPLE PREDICTED!
Next prediction(s):
1.) We will see this kind of "packs" in GW2 as well
2.) Maybe also one more in GW1?
If each of this packs is going to cost 10 bucks and offer this or that special, be prepared for a nasty future.
Other games cover their content upgrades with the monthly fee - see EVE, doing the most massive content upgrades of them all for free.
WoW has a fee and charges for new expansions almost full price, dropping later to less than half of a normal full price game.
1.) Guild Wars had full-price stand-alone chapters.
2.) GW:EN was salvaged content for almost full price.
3.) The BMP costs 10 bucks for 4 missions and a weapon skin collection plus video sequences.
4.) GW2 ...?
I see it coming! And they can say WE ASKED FOR IT. Funny...^^

The Prophecies CE was limited....so was the BMP....
It wasn't a smart move because they lost all 'promotion'/'bonus' offers they can use instore now because people will not buy, QQ their way to it and get what they want.

No, but it means something given in addition - this is not given in addition to anything now.
Agreed, this will just...destroy "promotion" for any company...i hope i never get into buisness works...

I agree that offering the BMP at regular price isn't much of a promotion, and I will gladly stand corrected in that part. Although, offering the BMP in b&m stores as a box is a sort of promotion in of itself. Customer walks by the software aisle and sees it, "hmm, look something else for Guild Wars." "Yeah, they must be trying to promote it with this new BMP or something". For customers that don't have the BMP, this could "promote" them enough to buy it and play the game more.
But in exchange you need to know that stores and businesses don't use dictionaries, online or offline, to define what their bonuses and promotions are to be.
But if we all did follow what you linked to for "bonus", then by definition every mission we completed in the game would already include the bonus reward "given to us" without us having to go out of our way to work for it.

Even if you ask, you're not guaranteed to get the truth/final word on the subject. Anet is happy to say one thing and later, to do something different.

I didn't get it when it first came out and I still don't really care if I get it or not... I don't like the look of any of the gold weapons except maybe the dead sword. So I doubt I'll bother picking it up unless I'm already at a place that sells it.
But I guess it is kinda cool for all of those who missed out on it.

Bonus Mission Pack: Pack of Missions in addition to the original games, namely Prophecies, Factions, NF and EotN.
Bonus Mission Pack Promotion: Promotion of said Pack by giving it for free if you spent enough $$ in the OLS during the period they mentioned.
Currently: Made Bonus Mission Pack available in OLS/retail.
Seems fine to me...

Well whatever you do in life - you're working towards something.
These weapons should have been took off the version to be released to atleast keep 'promotion' and 'bonus' in there.

So anyway divine aura is not something special, its hot damn exclusive and was available for quite a while, while the BMP was a promotional offer, but only to those that had a Credit card, and not even paypal support, that was their flaw because it left out a lot of users, but they pulled a smart move by putting the BMP on retail, because i will be buying that asap.

I'm really aware of that, but the argument on the BMP topics was almost the same, if I, at the time of the sale, were aware of the benefits of the BMP I would have bought it without thinking it twice.
I mean, the people who got it from the promotion didn't even knew that there were weapons coming, but still they bought it because they (we?) thought it was worth the money, regardless the benefits.
So, you got your divine aura, and I'm cool with that because it is supposed to be special, and anet took that feeling from the people who got BMP first

Reading Comprehension is win.
You buy the games - YOU DO NOT GET THE BMP WITH THEM. Therefore it's not in addition WITH them, but FOR them.

I don't really mind that because it's still better than having to pay the monthly fee, plus people can still play even if they don't buy those packages. Besides, GW has better looking graphics than WOW, which is the main reason I prefer GW over WOW.
Oh btw, WOW also charges for expansions, the monthly fee doesn't cover that.Their latest expansion is around 60 bucks.

And how is this a waste for anybody? if I was eligible for the promo the first time i would have gotten in on it, but it was closed by the time I started, so no bonus for buying all the expansions for me....now I have all the expansions, I would actually be kind of hosed if they made it a promo like it was last time, and would have to buy the unlock packs or worse something non-GW to qualify. Those of you griping need to realize you spent 30 bucks buying the expansions (or whatever) and u got the BMP for free, I spent all the same money on GW expansions y'all did but have to pay another 10 to get the BMP I have so desperatly wanted to get ever since starting the game, about a week after they closed the first BMP offer.
Really, the complaining here sounds like more "aww, now other people have the cool stuff too- i hate you A-net" jive to me. People get so jealous in this game.
|
The weapon aren't the point, the point is I have to pay 100k +XX ecto for a Kuunavang because I didn't play GW then, so you shouldn't be able to get the BMP, because guess what? You didn't play when it was out either.
There's tons of mini's I COULDN'T get because I didn't have gw, or if I had gw I could argue I was taking a brake from it, or my computer was broken, or didn't have internet or the money, hell I can complain that I didnt have gw or wasn't in asia for the mini's either, but I don't because there was a start for the promotion and an end. This one because of a couple complaints gets reopened and not just that, they get a discount for it.
So now took the money from everyone that bought character slots, and see an oppertunity to make a quick buck by selling the bmp to everyone and take it.
In the end it doen't matter cause no one with decent looking weapons is ever going to use the ones of the bmp cause apart from a couple they look terrible, and in a couple weeks will go the way of nf greens and be a cheap replacement for the hero weapons hero's come with.

I'll chalk this up as a lesson learned...
I won't be participating in anymore limited, exclusive offers from A-Net. I'll just wait for all the epic whining to finish and buy the thing later for 20 bucks cheaper...

From the response of this BMP fiasco, it does come across that way. But I haven't been following their announcements all the time so I wouldn't know.
Off Topic:
BTW, Anet should change the name of their "mission bonus" to "mission optional", because according to some online dictionary that tyla salanari linked to, the mission "bonus" and the extra rewards it comes with should be "given to us" along with every completed mission. lol

Thank You ANET.
Now, I want the GuildWars: Eye of the North retail box I didn't buy so I could have this "Bonus" Mission Pack that was only going to be available for people who purchased 27€ or more in the store until October '07. Yes, because the only reason I bought gwen online was the BMP that now is for sale for a price I wouldn't mind paying for, if I knew it would become available to everyone. I want my GWEN box.
